How work proceeds at Kalasiam
Every service follows the same sequence regardless of scope: assess first, discuss second, proceed only with agreement. This is not a formality — it is the only way to work on something that belongs to someone else and that may carry more than monetary value.
When a watch arrives, it is photographed externally and its condition noted. A visual assessment is conducted at no charge. If the service requested requires disassembly, the findings inside are shared before any further work begins. You are told what we found, what we recommend, and what the cost will be. If you wish to reconsider, you may.

Service 01
Vintage Timepiece Restoration
Sensitive restoration of older and inherited watches, focused on preserving originality while returning them to steady, reliable running. Every step is discussed with you beforehand so nothing is changed without your agreement.
- Full disassembly, cleaning, and movement inspection
- Original parts preserved where condition allows
- Mainspring, jewels, and escapement evaluated
- Regulation to within acceptable tolerance on timing machine
- 24-hour post-service run confirmed before collection

How this service proceeds
Visual assessment — external condition noted, photographs taken, known faults discussed.
Internal inspection — movement examined under magnification; worn, damaged, or missing parts identified.
Client consultation — findings and options presented; no work proceeds without agreement.
Cleaning & reassembly — all components ultrasonically cleaned, appropriate lubricants applied, movement reassembled.
Timing & handover — 24-hour minimum run on the timing machine; written result provided at collection.
Service 02
Timing Regulation & Diagnostics
A thorough diagnostic on a precision timing machine to identify irregular running, followed by gentle adjustment. A good first step when a watch has begun to drift and you would like to understand why.
- Multi-position analysis (dial up, dial down, crown positions)
- Beat error, amplitude, and rate all recorded
- Regulation attempted if movement condition allows
- Written result showing before and after figures

How this service proceeds
Initial run — watch placed on timing machine in multiple positions; current performance recorded.
Diagnosis — data reviewed to identify the cause of drift or erratic running.
Regulation — hairspring stud adjusted or regulator shifted to bring rate within acceptable range.
Confirmation run — post-adjustment figures recorded and compared with initial results.
Handover — written result including before/after figures provided at collection.
Service 03
Water Resistance Assessment
Pressure testing and gasket renewal to help protect your watch from moisture during everyday wear. We share clear, honest results so you know exactly what your piece can and cannot handle.
- Dry pressure test to identify seal failures before exposure to moisture
- Wet pressure test if dry test passes
- Crown, caseback, and crystal gaskets inspected and renewed
- Written result with pressure level attained
- Plain-language guidance on what the rating means for daily use

How this service proceeds
Visual inspection — case, crown, crystal, and caseback examined for visible wear or damage.
Gasket renewal — all gaskets replaced with appropriate grade material before testing begins.
Dry pressure test — watch pressurised to rated level; any drop in pressure indicates a seal failure.
Wet test (if applicable) — submerged under pressure to confirm integrity under realistic conditions.
Result & guidance — written result and plain-language explanation of what the rating means in practice.

Shared Standards
What applies across all three services
Secure custody
Watches are stored in a locked cabinet at all times when not being worked on and documented upon arrival and collection.
Calibrated equipment
Timing machine and pressure testers are calibrated regularly. Results are only as reliable as the instruments producing them.
Written documentation
All findings and outcomes recorded. Copies kept on file and provided to the client at collection.
No work without agreement
Work beyond the original scope requires explicit fresh approval. You are never presented with a bill for work you did not sanction.
Parts returned to client
Any component removed from your watch is kept and returned in a labelled envelope. You may retain or dispose of it as you choose.
Contact during service
If an unexpected finding changes the scope, we telephone or message you before continuing. We do not proceed and explain later.

Stated prices, no surprises
All prices are in Thai Baht and include the complete service as described. Additional parts if required are quoted separately and must be approved before procurement.
